Insurance

I am in private practice to avoid working with insurances for several reasons:

  • Privacy and Confidentiality - to be reimbursed by an insurance company, I first need to tell them who I work with and what we are working on. If I promised you full confidentiality (with only the legally mandated exceptions) at our first meeting, I can’t keep that promise the moment I report to your insurance.

  • Focus of Therapy - Insurances would like to see you functional. Me too. But in addition, I would like to see your pain significantly decreased AND your quality of life meaningfully improved.

  • My fee is US$ 130 per hour and I don’t share your information with any insurance or other third party.

While I am not filing insurance claims, I would be happy to give you a monthly statement or a super-bill for your insurance company. Perhaps your insurance will reimburse you without having been part of our clinical work.

SESSIONS

I offer a 1 hour free consultation to anyone, whether you decide to work with me or not. No strings. I do this so you have a chance to meet me and decide whether you would like to work with me clinically and whether you think working with me is worth your time and money.

Individual counseling sessions last 50-60 minutes and run US$ 130.00.

I schedule 90 min for our first/intake session and it runs US$ 195.00.

I accept credit cards, checks and cash.

If you would like to make your first appointment,

it is best to send me an email to sperrycounseling@gmail.com.

I will respond to your email within 2 business days.

I am a Counselor and Psychotherapist.

What differentiates me from most other counselors are several things. I am in the spring of my older age (in my 60s), I am educated in cross-academic fields (business administration, Economics and Clinical Counseling), I have lived in five countries on two continents, and I am an immigrant from Austria.

I have no high school degree but became an adjunct college professor teaching International Business, Economics and Negotiation Skills in the MBA program at The Ohio Dominican University. I started working when I was 16, went through an apprenticeship, eventually became frustrated enough to go back to school, earn a high school equivalency diploma and started university when I was 28 years old. I was 38 years old when I received my doctorate in Business Administration from the Vienna/Austria University of Economics and Business Administration. I taught over 10+ years.

I have earned a Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Ashland University, Ohio in 2018 and have been a counselor ever since.

I am licensed by the State of Ohio and you can verify this by following the link below:

  • Solution Based Brief Therapy (SFBT)

    Solution Based Brief Therapy

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a short-term, goal-directed therapeutic approach that concentrates on a client's current strengths and resources to construct practical solutions for the future, rather than dwelling on the history or analysis of the problem itself.
